About Me

I am a 19-year-old who is currently a diploma-student in Early Childhood Development & Education. I strongly believe that Early Childhood Education is the foundation of learning and future success. Complete development from a young age would help overall growth in children and I love knowing that I am able to mould our future leaders of tomorrow.

With almost 3 years of education in Early Childhood Development and Education, I can safely say that all the knowledge I have, especially on child development, has helped me in knowing which areas to focus on when planning lessons. My years in the course have also provided me with many opportunities to plan and get creative with lesson plans for core subjects such as Numeracy, Language and Literacy and Discovery of the World, as well as methods to incorporate holistic development into each activity.

Personally, my best skills would have to be my patience, my ability to communicate clearly and articulately, and my aim to shape each child as a whole. Overall-shaping to me is not simply about academics. At these fragile ages, children have to know right from wrong and what makes me different as an educator is the fact that I would prioritize the way children act in my class and try to get each child to fully understand the mistake of their actions and furthermore, the right way to act instead, rather than just faulting them for making said mistake.

I also have education in early intervention specifically and would hone my knowledge as an educator, catering to the needs of children with exceptionalities.

Inclusiveness is very important to me and I want each child to know that no matter who they are or what pace they learn at, that they all should learn to respect one another and everyone else around them.

My Educational Journey

Upon graduating from Temasek Secondary School, I joined Ngee Ann Polytechnic for my Diploma in Early Childhood Development & Education. During my years in Temasek Secondary school, I specialized in English & Literature in English, both of which I attained a distinction for in the GCE O'Level examination. Apart from that, I also attained a Merit in Art and Accounting for my O'level examinations.

My level of knowledge gained from Temasek Secondary school extends beyond just academics. In Temasek Secondary, I was given leadership opportunities where I learnt and practised how to take charge as well as convey my ideas and instructions articulately such that it is easy to process and follow. I was given such opportunities through the extra-curricular activities I took part in such as training with Temasek Acapella Group every week for various events, concerts and competitions. As an exco and secretary of the group, I had the chance to help my team work together and encourage them to contribute ideas that could make us better as a whole. To me, leadership is nothing without a team with a strong bond.
